The treatment and longevity of a distressed tooth depend on the injury’s type, location and severity. Here are some possible situations.

A cracked tooth: The most apparent symptoms are random intense pain while chewing, and intense discomfort when the tooth is subjected to very hot and cold beverages and food. Though the pain can be random, get immediate treatment so it doesn’t intensify and hopefully the tooth still could be save. 

An infection: It’s crucial to get treatment right away when experiencing symptoms of a dental infection, such as intense pain on the teeth or gums, bleeding and/or swelling. Tooth Infection might need Root Canal Therapy or Extraction. Gum infection might be cured with periodontal treatment. Untreated infection might lead to tooth and bone loss.

Chipped teeth: An injury, heavy grinding or normal wear and tear can cause chips.Some people think chips can be treated in a hospital emergency room or an urgent care clinic. On the contrary, call Gentle Dental Associates right away. Most fragments can be restored by reattaching the piece that broke off or by filling in the empty spot with tooth-colored bonding material. 

A chipped crown: A small fracture or chip can usually be polished or refurbished with a tooth-colored filling material. A crown that’s lost a significant area will likely need to be re-capped with a new crown.

A physical injury: Some types of damage force a tooth sideways or into or out of its socket. Gentle Dental Associates will change the tooth’s position and stabilize it. A dislodged permanent tooth usually requires root canal therapy (RTC). When the RTC is completed, a permanent crown or root canal filling will restore the tooth.
